What is Carbon Monoxide Poisoning?
Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs after enough inhalation of carbon monoxide (CO). Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas, but, being colorless, odorless, tasteless, and initially non-irritating, it is very difficult for people to detect. Carbon monoxide is a product of incomplete combustion of organic matter due to insufficient oxygen supply to enable complete oxidation to carbon dioxide (CO2). It is often produced in domestic or industrial settings by motor vehicles that run on gasoline, diesel, methane, or other carbon-based fuels and from tools, gas heaters, and cooking equipment that are powered by carbon-based fuels such as propane, butane and charcoal. Exposure at 100 ppm or greater can be dangerous to human health.

What is Blue Guard Technologies?
Blue Guard Technologies designs, develops, and distributes products that save lives that could otherwise be lost due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

What is the Blue Guard Poison Prevention System?
Blue Guard has developed several patent pending products that not only detect high carbon monoxide emissions but also prevent tragedies by shutting off the source of the emissions. Our flagship product is designed for integration into automobiles but the Blue Guard Poison Prevention System can also be applied to any device that produces carbon monoxide (furnaces, heaters, generators, etc.).

How does Blue Guard work?
As pertains to automobiles, The Blue Guard Poison Prevention System has six primary subsystems or modules that together make up the complete system: 1. Vehicle Blue Guard base unit with fuel pump inhibit relay 2. Blue Guard Smart Carbon Monoxide Sensor unit 3. Cellular Modem with GPS Smart Carbon Monoxide Sensor 4. Wi-Fi Interface Smart Carbon Monoxide Sensor 5. Blue Guard Website Functionality 6. Blue Guard Smartphone App

In brief, the Blue Guard Poison Prevention System is installed in your vehicle. The system proactively polices carbon monoxide emissions and detects unsafe levels. Once high levels are detected, the system goes into protect mode. Protect mode includes smart device notifications of the dangerous levels of carbon monoxide to the vehicle owner, networked individuals, and first responders if necessary. The system ultimately will shut off the engine when emissions reach dangerous levels.

Why do I need Blue Guard?
Because you and your loved ones are in jeopardy of falling victim to carbon monoxide poisoning.

“Every year, 20,000 to 30,000 people in the United States are sickened by accidental carbon monoxide poisoning and approximately 500 people die, many in their own home. Carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. It cannot be detected by humans without the help of a detector.”

“Cars, trucks, or other engines are left running in enclosed spaces, such as garages. Carbon monoxide can build up in a garage and leak back into the house. Even sitting in an idling car in an open garage or swimming behind an idling boat can be dangerous.”

Given the statistics of sickness and death resulting from carbon monoxide poisoning, it is an outrage that many cars on the road and in the market today don’t have safety precautions for carbon monoxide levels integrated within them.

Compounding this problem is the proliferation of keyless ignitions and the quiet hum of modern engines. Vehicle owners are at great risk of exiting their vehicle without terminating the engine. The simply neglect to turn off the engine and aren’t reminded to do so by technology or the sound of their own engine running.

How is Blue Guard installed on my vehicle?
The Blue Guard Poison Prevention System can be installed by any person who can locate their OBD2 connector and install our device. It is similar to plugging in a lamp. Alternatively, an auto mechanic can perform this installation quickly and at a low cost.

The typical installation process takes only a few minutes.
